  What happens when I click on the “Open Enrollment” icon or link, and I receive a message that the application is locked due to payrolls processing?

You may receive a “locked” message on the days of October 24-25 and November 1-2 due to payrolls processing. Please try back at a later time.

  What if my dependents are not listed and I wish to add them to the plan?

If your dependents are not listed on this screen, you will need to call the Benefits HelpLine at 1-888-443-5707 or email Benefits@citgo.com. Additionally, you can view your dependents under the “Personal Info” tab in ESS.

  What does "Evidence of Insurability" mean?

If you enroll in Optional Term Life Insurance or Dependent Life Insurance, you may be subject to a Statement of Health, also known as Evidence of Insurability. These terms are used interchangeably. This is a form that you are required to complete and submit to the life insurance administrator. Remember, increased amounts of life insurance that are subject to a Statement of Health will not be reflected in your current coverage until approved.

  I have already completed the Open Enrollment process. However, I would like to make changes to my new elections. May I do so?

You are welcome to make additional changes to your elections during the Open Enrollment period of Monday, October 23, 2023 through Friday, November 3, 2023.

  What does "Basic Coverage Amount" and "Total Coverage Amount" mean?

“Basic Coverage Amount” simply means the minimum coverage which you may have in a certain plan. For example, the minimum coverage you can elect for the Personal Accident Insurance plan is $10,000. “Total Coverage Amount” simply means the basic coverage amount plus any additional amount that you may have elected in a certain plan.

  Is there a way in which I can compare my current 2023 benefit elections versus my new 2024 benefit elections?

You may view and print a Confirmation Statement from ESS at any time during the year to view your current benefit elections or your new 2024 benefit elections. Simply click on “Participation Overview”, under "Benefits" in ESS. On this screen, you will need to enter a 2023 date or 2024 date and click on “Display”. The print icon is located near the top right of the page. During the 2024 Annual Election period, you will be able to print a confirmation statement at the end of the benefit election process.

  When I click on "Save," an error message appears at the top of the screen such as, "Employee XXXXX is not enrolled in all corequisite plans for SMED." What does this mean?

If you receive this message, please check your medical plan, FSA and/or HSA elections, as you may have elected the incorrect combination of plans.

  Do you have to click on "Save" before the changes will be updated?

Yes. Once you have completed making your 2024 benefit elections, you can review your elections to ensure that you have completed all desired changes. Once you have thoroughly reviewed your 2024 benefits elections, you will need to click on “Save.” Your plan selections will be saved at this time. Your elections will take effect on January 1, 2024.

  Please explain how to change the “Additional Units” on the Salaried Dependent Life Spouse and Personal Accident plans.

For example, if you choose to elect or make changes to your Dependent Life Spouse plan, you will need to enter a number (0 – 24) in the highlighted “Additional Unit” space. Once you hit the “Recalculate” button, then you will be able to see the Total Coverage. For the Personal Accident plan, you will need to enter a number (0 – 148) in the highlighted “Additional Unit” space. Once you hit the “Recalculate” button, then you will be able to see the Total Coverage.
